Static Positioning

Element boxes are static by default. They follow the normal flow of the page, immediately following and preceding other static elements. Static positioned elements are not affected by the top, bottom, left, and right properties.

Fixed Positioning

Fixes boxes are like absolute boxes, but they are fixed to the viewpart. So the box will not scroll when the rest of the page does. Fixed positioned elements can overlap other elements. They are good for logo placement and things you always want visible on the page.

Relative Positioning

Not the seating positions on Thanksgiving or other holidays! Relative boxes may be moved with relation to their original position, leaving an empty space where the box once was. This box has a margin of left 200px - moving this text over to the right. Relative positioning can be moved top, right, bottom or left, from where the box is offset. So if a box is moved position: relative; left: 10em, then the box will be pused 10ems to the right, or 10ems from the original position.

Absolutely!

Absolute boxes are offset from the position of its containing block. They do not follow "the flow" of the document and exist independently from the content. Absolute boxes can overlap other boxes like Fixed boxes.
